The Challenge

Overview

Windemuller installed new electrical feeders for four large air handling units (AHU) at the hospital, which included a total of 12 variable frequency drives (VFD), three per AHU. Three of the four new units were in a roof top “penthouse”, thus meaning all the tooling and materials needed to be carried or lifted to the roof. In addition, on consecutive Saturdays, the team replaced two panel boards.

Due to hospital requirements and needs, especially during the pandemic, healthcare operations take precedent above any planned repair work, which required our crews to be nimble with scheduling. Also, at times the workspace became cramped due to numerous contractors working on various projects in the same space. Fortunately, the transparency in the coordination with Spectrum and communication with other trades helped the project come to a smooth completion.
