I remember well when I was interviewed for a job at Windemuller and was concerned about the string of short-term jobs on my resume. That was 1989. This year, I’m celebrating 35 years with the company. Windemuller just fit. I found my forever home.
Over my three decade-plus career working in accounting, I’ve seen a lot of changes – but none more than with technology. In those early years, it was still using carbon copy paper for making duplicates of documents and so many filing cabinets. We still used typewriters for most things. There was no email, no website, and it was the early days of cell phones. Remember Nextel?
I remember when we got our first fax machine. That was a huge deal because it meant employees could fax their timesheets instead of dropping them off at the office or sending them through the mail, even though we had to run them through the copy machine before the thermal print faded. Getting a fax machine was life-changing!
When I first started there weren’t 401(k) plans offered to employees. It’s been neat watching that and other new company benefits rolled out as the company expanded across the state. Windemuller also helped support my education and I was able to finally get my bachelor’s degree.
