Sometimes I joke that I used to guard criminals, and now I guard the front door – but it’s mostly true! I was a criminal justice major in college with every intention of becoming a police officer. And, earlier in my professional life, I did work at a jail.
When I accepted an opportunity at a law firm as a legal secretary, I realized this office thing wasn’t such a bad gig. Fast forward, I have spent more than 25 years doing administrative work in the electrical field. I’ve been at Windemuller since 2008.
As an administrative assistant, I wear many hats – which suits my “task list” personality. But I have to say my favorite part of the job is event planning. There are always things going on here to plan for – from chili cook-offs to the annual People Appreciation Night, which takes about a year to plan!
Something I really enjoy about Windemuller as an employer is it nurtures the strengths of its employees – empowering us with opportunities to grow in our positions. For instance, I’m always thinking of ideas for keeping morale up, and the company lets me run with them.
As an employee, you know management cares about you. You feel listened to and valued. Also, even as a smaller corporation, Windemuller shows big love. Sometimes that means being supportive when an employee – or even a former employee – is going through a tough time. The company steps up and does something special, and helpful. We are tied together here and that definitely gives it that family feel.
