Senior Communications Manager

I was winding down my college career when a friend who was an electrician asked me if I might be interested in telecommunications work. Even though I knew absolutely nothing about the field, I decided I had nothing to lose – and everything to learn.

That was more than 30 years ago. In 2024, I celebrated 21 years at Windemuller. I am currently the Senior Communications Manager overseeing the Communications and IT groups.

When I started in 1993, communications work (or telecommunications, as it was known then) pretty much meant installing cables for phones and computers. There is still a phone and computer component to communications today, but technology and other advancements have expanded the types of field installations we do. It now encompasses things such as security cameras, card access systems, and wireless and fiber optic networking. The IT side of the department is responsible for programming all of those communications systems, among its other functions.

In addition to managing these two work groups, I oversee customer projects, estimate and bid reviews for new projects, and am responsible for the group meeting sales and financial goals. I can’t share my story without giving a shout-out to my awesome team who has helped me be successful. I’m lucky to work with this hard-working and dedicated group of people.

What I appreciate about Windemuller as an employer is the company is very family-oriented. I never missed any of my kids’ sporting events while they were growing up. Family comes first here, and I even have some family members working with me at Windemuller. My daughter works in the Human Resources Department, and my son-in-law works in the Communications Department. In addition, the work culture is one of respect, treating others as you want to be treated, and leading by example. I am very blessed to be a part of this great organization.
